I was naive when I did the first Good Housekeeping’s Cookery Compendium Challenge. I thought it would be a breeze. This time, I approached it with caution.
A lot of recipes were just bland…
Some were surprisingly easy…
Some got a bit sexy…
Some had unhelpful names…
Brown Stew
Some, I tried to fail on…
Six Cup Pudding and Mock Cream
And one was stand out amazing…
The Introduction describes the GHCC as “one handsome volume”. It is. It’s huge, comprehensive and full of savvy kitchen management tips. It’s obvious I’m not it’s target audience but it’s a good read. We had a good run with these recipes; have I been lulled into a false sense of security?
